Minnesota Timberwolves Ricky Rubio Trade Rumors: GM Milt Newton Debunks Speculations

The NBA trade rumors are in full swing and Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio is one of the headliners during this off-season.

The main issue is Rubio's slow development in terms of shooting as well as his history of injury per ESPN.com's Bradford Doolittle.

"For all he does well, Rubio just can't find a consistent peg in the shooting realm. He's not just an inconsistent jump shooter -- he's annually one of the worst finishers in the league, ranking in the 6th percentile at worst in the restricted area for three straight seasons, per nba.com/stats," Bradford wrote.

However, all those trade rumors were just debunked by their GM Milt Newton.

''We're not talking to anybody about trading Ricky,'' Newton told The AP via Yahoo Sports. ''We expect Ricky to be an integral part of our team this season. We expect him to be here come training camp and leading our team.''

He believes that they got one of the best facilitators in the league and it would be a mistake to let go of the Spanish point guard.

''He's one of the best facilitators in the NBA,'' Newton said. ''We've got a young team of guys that are athletic, that are going to get up and down. And we're going to utilize those talents that they have."

He also said that Rubio is the perfect point guard who will spearhead a young and athletic team.

"Who better than Ricky to be the one leading the charge, pushing the pace, pushing the ball and getting our guys easy opportunities and getting the ball where they can be their best? We're looking to him to be that person.''

In terms of his health, he said that Rubio is now in top shape and they won't have any problems with regards to that.

''Ricky's got great ankles,'' he said last week, later adding: ''He's looking good. Everything is where it needs to be.''
