James Middleton has broken up with Donna Air reportedly to please the royals.

A report from The Sun, via CDL, the brother of Kate Middleton and the TV presenter have called it quits after two years of being together.

"The split happened a couple of weeks ago and it was James' decision. He just didn't think it was going to go the distance. And I think his family were always very anti her being the future Queen of England's sister-in-law," the source said of the alleged breakup.

But CDL called out the Middletons for the breakup.

The article said, "Does anyone else see the irony in this break-up though? The Middleton Family is worried about who James is dating and eventually marries, and whether they will make a good sister-in-law for Kate Middleton, the future Queen Of England. Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?"

James Middleton and girlfriend Donna Air started seeing each other early 2013 when they met in Mayfair in a private members' club of Robin Birley. They went public with their relationship in April of the same year.

Donna Air, in an earlier interview, said that James Middleton "is wonderful, and I enjoy our time together very much."

"I am very happy. It is early days but you just never know what the future has in store," she said of Kate Middleton's brother. "And yes...there is also the bonus that he brings something I have always searched for, and will always need in my life... cake!"

To date, James Middleton and Donna Air have not issued an official statement regarding the rumored breakup.

On her Instagram, however, Donna Air posted a quote which might be addressing the breakup rumors. The quote reads, "Accept what is, let go of what was, have faith in what will be (even those itchy ears)."
