Apple TV 2015 Reviews Are ‘Underwhelming’ But Scores Big In ‘Repairability’

The appearance of the Apple TV's 2015 model is "underwhelming," according to a review.

In its review of the mobile giant's latest television model, Stuff.tv noted that obviously, it is not yet "the future of television."

However, the site revealed that "the new Apple TV looks pretty good all the same."

It further added that its comment about the new device's appearance was based on it being "just a slightly taller version of the puck-like Apple TV we're oh so familiar with."

Amid this minor criticism, Stuff.tv wrote in its Apple TV 2015 review that the company surely understands how to make it a sought-after product.

"But Apple knows the physical appearance of the actual box doesn't really matter because it's probably going to be tucked away out of sight anyway," the report said.

"What matters is what it does and what it's like to use. And here Apple appears to be very much on the right track."

Apart from its tvOS, which is based primarily on iOS, the new Apple TV also boasts of other features that may encourage more consumers to patronize it.

The site disclosed in its review that new gamepad controllers are already compatible with the Apple TV's 2015 model.

"With all of the existing Apple TV apps available on the new Apple TV the content is largely covered, and with the new remote control and what looks like very impressive Siri support, the quick access to content might be sorted, too," the site concluded.

In the meantime, The Verge reported that iFixit scored the said device eight in terms of "repairability."

The site shared that iFixit was able to check on the parts of the 2015 model of Apple one month ahead of its set-top box shipping schedule, and it noted that "this Apple TV is a bit more expensive than the existing $69 unit."

Another review is expected from different sites once the Apple TV's 2015 variant will be released in October.
