New York Knicks News: Carmelo Anthony Talks About His Current Position With The Team

New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony had a rough year last season as his team finished with the second worst record in the league.

He decided to sit out the second half of last season due to injury and rumors of him not being happy made the media suggest that he is demanding for a trade.

However, Anthony clarified all the misconceptions and he said that he is happy with the Knicks right now. Ever since he joined the Knicks, he has never made the playoffs but he said that he and his teammates are trying hard to make it this season.

''We're competing,'' he said via Yahoo Sports. ''I mean, people might not believe that, but we're definitely competing for that. That's always going to be the goal. Whether we get there or not, it depends on us and what we do and how we do it, but that's always our big-picture goal.''

One thing that are helping the Knicks right now is Carmelo being vocal on how he feels about the situation according to head coach Derek Fisher.

''What I see in Melo is how he feels personally, good or bad, about anything, I think he will say it if he feels like he needs to say it, but when he doesn't feel like it needs to be said, or people publicly need to know what he's feeling or how he's thinking, he doesn't say it,'' Knicks coach Derek Fisher said. ''And I think that says a lot about who he is.''

This year, Carmelo Anthony have reasons to be optimistic about as not only did they get rookie sensation Kristaps Porzingis and talented point guard Jerian Grant, they also acquired reliable center Robin Lopez and lockdown defender Arron Afflalo. Will this be enough to get them over the hump? Stay tuned.
