The end of episode 2 for "Castle" season 8 broke apart Castle and Beckett, but the author is not giving up on his wife just yet, according to spoilers. Meanwhile, Esposito and Ryan trying to look cool backfired when their cover is blown.

A video clip revealed the awkward encounter when the two detectives tried to pass themselves off as college students. They try to fish information from the suspect who recognizes them right away.

Then to make matters worse, Castle approaches Ryan and Esposito to offer his services free of charge. When the two detectives balk, he tells them that he's a new member of the faculty whose influence can provide the necessary break in the case of the hazing incident involving fratboy Scott Powell.

The synopsis offers some spoilers for "Castle" season 8 as it reads, "When the body of a local college fraternity student is found gruesomely murdered, Castle has to go undercover as a professor in order to gain access to the victim's world. However, he and Beckett soon discover that behind the fun and games of college are some darker secrets the university wants to keep hidden."

In an interview for TVLine, Alexis Hawley said that Rick is not giving up on Beckett.

"In the episodes immediately following, we are playing it a bit like he isn't quite sure why she's doing this; she really isn't giving him a whole lot of information," the showrunner said. "I do think he might suspect deep down that there's something more to it, but he has no frame of reference."

The way he's approaching it is: 'No matter what, I'm going to win her back. She needs me.' So he puts a very positive spin on it ... rather than get too heavy with his suspicions or fears," he added.
