It was the premiere of Austin Stowell's new film "Bridge of Spies," but former "The Vampire Diaries" Nina Dobrev who stole the show from her boyfriend.

On Sunday, Nina Dobrev heated up the red carpet at The New York Film Festival event in a sexy number.

"The former Vampire Diaries star looked gorgeous in a long black dress with striking red side panel and thigh-high slit that showed off her toned legs," said Daily Mail. "She wore her pretty brunette hair down in soft waves, and added black stilettos with a silver ankle strap."

Although Nina Dobrev's boyfriend Austin Stowell looked sharp in a classic suit and tie, the 26-year-old faded into the shadow under the actress' sexy dress.

Not that the actor minded, however, as he seemed very proud showing off the former "The Vampire Diaries" star.

In "Bridge of Spies," Austin Stowell plays Francis Gary Powers, the American pilot whose spy plane was shot down in Soviet Union in 1962.

Austin Stowell shared to The Hollywood Reporter that he read the book of Francis Gary Powers to prepare for the role.

"He's got a real great sense of humor about the whole thing and I think that shows that people just didn't quite get what he went through and how could they? There was so much propaganda by the media at the time, on both sides," he said.

The film already generated Oscar buzz for both director Steven Spielberg and its actor, Tom Hanks.

"Tom Hanks emerges as a strong Best Actor candidate for his flawless performance as James Donovan, a Brooklyn lawyer who bravely risked his life to covertly negotiate the release of Francis Gary Powers, an American spy captured after his plane pilot was shot down over the Soviet Union in 1960," the NY Post reported.

Nina Dobrev and boyfriend Austin Stowell started dating this past summer and they were all over the place on her social media account following her exit from "The Vampire Diaries." Their July getaway at St. Tropez was filled with PDA moments.
