Carrie Underwood Says Her Son Changed Her; Admits Brad Paisley Inspired Her To Start A Family

Carrie Underwood said her son changed her. The "American Idol" alum also admitted that fellow country star Brad Paisley inspired her to start a family.

According to a report from ABC News, the 32-year-old Nashville artist shared how her life has changed since the arrival of Isaiah Fisher, her firstborn with NHL player Mike Fisher.

"I feel overall like I'm kind of a happier person, and that's kind of weird," Carrie Underwood said about having her son.

"I don't know why, but I just feel like I'm just kind of in a better mood most of the time, unless I'm really sleepy."

"He's such a great baby. ... Smiley and happy and just sweet. I'm sure all babies are sweet, but he's, like, really sweet," she detailed.

The singer-songwriter said her mother, Carole Underwood, initially had doubts about her capabilities as a first-time mom. Carrie Underwood grew up as an only child since her two older sisters were out of their house for most of her childhood.

"I think my mom kind of expected me to be overwhelmed by motherhood because of that," she joked. "She tells me all the time that she's surprised and happy and that I was different than she thought I'd be. So that's good."

"I'm sure she had a little faith in me, but it's different when all of a sudden your focus is entirely shifted to this little thing," the Grammy-winning diva added.

According to Country Music Television, Carrie Underwood said having a son was somewhat influenced by her friend, Brad Paisley.

The younger country singer looked up to the crooner and his wife, Kimberly Paisley, and how they raised their sons Huck and Jasper Paisley.

"[Brad] was part of the reason," she said about deciding to start her own family. "I would see them and how great they are and how sweet he is with them."

"As soon as I found out I was having a boy, I was watching them like, 'Aww, I want my kids to be like that,'" she admitted.

The two country artists will be hosting the Country Music Awards this November right after the October release of Carrie Underwood's fifth album, "Storyteller."
