Houston Rockets Point Guard Ty Lawson All Revved Up To Face NBA MVP Steph Curry

The Houston Rockets are one of the much improved team heading into this season as not only were they able to retain their core players, but they were able to add a bonafide star in point guard Ty Lawson from the Denver Nuggets.

Lawson was bothered were issues during the course of this year and this caused his trade value to plummet. The Rockets used this chance to acquire Lawson without giving up anyone significant in return.

Now, Rocket fans might be concerned with his stability, but the point guard guarantees that it was simply a silly mistake and he won't let those incidents define him as a player and as a person.

"I still honestly don't think I would've had to go in there if it wasn't court ordered. I just made two dumb mistakes," Lawson said. "But I did take things from the [rehabilitation facility]."

He is also fired up to prove that he belongs to the higher echelons of point guards in this league and he believes once they get deep in the playoffs, he will be considered as one.

"I don't think you've ever seen so many good point guards in one conference at one time in the league ever," Lawson told Yahoo Sports.

"But you've got to win. If you want to be an elite PG in this league, you've got to win. You've got to be in the conference finals, the NBA Finals. If you're not winning, you'll always be a second-tier, or third-tier point guard."

And as early as now, he notified reigning MVP Steph Curry that he is coming for him so he better be ready for some competition.

"Steph Curry needed someone to go back at him," Lawson told Yahoo Sports. "I thought Steph was just chillin' on defense - and then going crazy on offense."

"He looked like he was just putting shots up and not working so much on the defensive end. He would just come down and hit three or four 3s. He can shoot when he's got his legs under him."
