Korean songstress IU and pop-rock vocalist Jang Kiha are the hottest new couple in Korean entertainment. The pair had been dating from almost two years before they were recently outed by the tabloid outlet, Dispatch. 

On October 8, IU and Loen Entertainment confirmed their relationship, following an investigative report published by Dispatch that depicted the couple on unaccompanied dates. 

While the initial confirmation came through her agency, Loen Entertainment, IU personally addressed her relationship through a message on her fan cafe. The Korean outlet, OSEN, published her statement. 

"It's been almost two years since we started dating," said the 22-year-old IU of her romantic relationship with the 33-year-old rocker. "It was love at first sight, after meeting him during a radio station broadcast." 

IU noted that they are like any real-life couple, who have their ups and downs. 

"He is my boyfriend, whom I learn a lot from," said IU.  "I am thankful for that." 

She went on to describe the nature of their relationship and her reluctance to break the news to fans, particularly in the manner that was prompted by the Dispatch report.  

"I was thinking of a good way to break the news to everyone, but that opportunity was taken away from me," said the pop vocalist. It's sudden, but I've got to start a public relationship.

IU apologized for the sudden news and was gracious towards her audience, as she concluded her message. 

"While I've played this out, in my head hundreds of times, I don't know what to do," said IU. "I will keep going on with my work, first." 

Jang Kiha also issued a statement to his fans. Jang is known for his boisterous variety show appearances but is best known by music fans as the frontman of the indie group, Jang Kiha and the Faces. 

The English-language outlet, Mwave, published his fan cafe statement. 

"IU and I are happily dating," said Jang, in the opening of his written message.

He described their first encounter and initial segue into dating. 

"I met IU for the first time in October 2013, when she appeared as a guest on a radio show I used to host," said Jang. "Two years have already passed since we confirmed our feelings for each other. IU is someone I'm really thankful for and hold dearly."

He went on to address concerns that recent developments would affect their relationship.

"We will continue to date happily and not cause those who care for me and IU, to worry," said Jang "We will encourage each other and make music that is better than before." 

The couple has an 11 year age gap, but IU has been known to associate with other Korean entertainers who are older.
