Google Hangouts 5.0 For Android To Be Out Soon; Update To Solve 4.0 Issues?

While the update has been rolled out on iOS already, Google Hangouts 5.0 for Android has not been released yet.

However, Android users may now rejoice as Phandroid reported that the latest upgrade to the Google-based messaging service is now being finalized.

The tech site shared that per Derek Ross, the Google Hangouts 5.0 version for Android is already "close to finished."

It was learned that a number of issues in the previous versions, including 4.0, will already be addressed.

According to the report, the lag in sending and loading messages will already be gone with the Google Hangouts 5.0 update for Android.

Another notable improvement will be the reduction of the main screen conversation update lag.

Phandroid further disclosed that while the Hangouts flash screen will be part of the additional features, the dogfood icon will finally be removed, and the GIFs are expected to be working on the new update of the messaging service.

The site noted that the removal of the dogfood icon is "most telling."

"In case you don't know, Google and other companies undergo internal testing and QA procedures before releasing products," the site explained.

"One facet of those procedures is dogfooding, which is the act of getting employees to use the product in their day-to-day lives in order to naturally uncover bugs or gather opinions about the user experience," it added about the Google Hangouts 5.0 update for Android.

In the meantime, it can be recalled that Android Police reported before that some Google Hangouts users have complained about their inability to log-in.

According to the report, when one was trying to sign in, the error message "Couldn't connect to the server" got displayed on the screen. Upon trying to solve it using numerous possible solutions, nothing appeared to work.

With the Google Hangouts 5.0 update for Android, many users may have been excited when they heard about it.
