Dallas Mavericks’ Chandler Parsons Talks About His Plans This Upcoming Season, DeAndre Jordan

The Dallas Mavericks have had a very rough year as not only did they lose to the Houston Rockets in the first round of the recently concluded playoffs, but they are also suffering from player injuries and DeAndre Jordan spurning them last off-season.

Chandler Parsons spoke with Yahoo Sports to share his thoughts on the current state of the Mavs roster and him as a vital member of the team. Also, he talked about himself and if he can actually return to his form once he recovers from injury.

"Can he come back from knee surgery?" Parsons told Yahoo. "Is he going to be better? Can he live up to a max contract? Can he be a go-to guy in Dallas? My job is to answer these questions, to prove that I can do all of those things. I've been doing it my whole life."

"And now I have everything I ever wanted coming here - an opportunity to be the man and an All-Star."

He also talked about DeAndre Jordan and his actions during the last off-season.

"I think I've earned the right to speak freely about the Mavs and our future. There was no way DJ was going to come unless I presented our pitch. It's not like I was gassing him up and lying," Jordan said.

"Everything he was saying that he wanted, we were going to give to him. Everything: the opportunity to get the ball more, to be an MVP candidate, to be the man and take the next step in his career."

He added that when they saw each other again, he can't help but say this: "It's not like I was just making this [expletive] up. He's still a friend. But when I saw him in Las Vegas for Team USA, all I could really say was, 'Are you [expletive] serious?' "

Now that Monta Ellis is gone and is now part of the Indiana Pacers, Parsons will have to take more responsibility on the offensive side of things as he might even need to be the team's second option next to Dirk Nowitzki or if not, be the first and primary option.

On the bright side, the Mavs managed to acquire former Portland Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews and Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams who are also expected to perform on a high level.

Chandler Parsons is still recovering from his microfracture surgery and it is currently unknown when will he be able to return and play for the Dallas Mavericks.
