The statement Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao made a few days ago about him and retired undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. having a rematch has been debunked by Top Rank CEO, Bob Arum.

According to the CEO and promoter, there is no way Floyd Mayweather Jr. is fighting in the Middle East and he is holding on to Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s confirmation of him not returning to the boxing world ever again.

"I have no idea what he's talking about. He said it, not me. But I have had no talks with anyone about that. None. Zero. Not one," Arum said via Bleacher Report. "Mayweather is retired and I take him at his word. But second, you know there is no way that Mayweather is ever going to fight in the Gulf, even if he did decide to fight again, so it's all [expletive]."

Now that the rumor is out of the window, it looks like Lucas Matthyse is a strong contender as Pacquiao's next opponent as well. According to Oscar De La Hoya, his fighter will be a good match for the Filipino boxer.

"I strongly feel if Lucas Matthysse impresses [against Viktor Postol], he's in line to face Manny Pacquiao next year," said Oscar De La Hoya via Jake Donovan of BoxingScene.com.

He also confirmed that the negotiations have begun between him and the one managing Manny Pacquiao.

"There is a guy who manages Manny Pacquiao, and I am already in conversations with this gentleman to make a fight between Pacquiao and Matthysse," De La Hoya said. "It could be a complicated fight, but that's why Lucas is preparing so well. He has some great sparring partners to work with and he'll be ready."
