LA Lakers Guard Jordan Clarkson A Much Better Player Now Defensively Says Coach Byron Scott

Perhaps the biggest surprise player of last year's NBA draft, LA Lakers point guard Jordan Clarkson continues to improve his game and will give the other point guards a tough time taking his minutes away.

According to LA Times, the 1st Team All-Rookie Clarkson gave plenty of time in the gym to improve his defense on and off the ball.

He also said that he is so geared up to start the season and make a lot of noise for his team.

"I can be quiet and not in the way and then make noise on the court. That's what my plan is," he told The Times after a recently concluded training with the team.

He cared that he doesn't want any media attention and wants to focus only on his game.

"I don't care about none of that stuff, man," he said. "I come here and work hard and try to win games. I don't get into everything else."

In fact, his coach Byron Scott compared his speed to OKC's Russell Westbrook and everybody seemed to agree with it. This time, head coach Byron Scott wants the young stud to improve his defense.

As a result, here's what his coach has to say: "He's a lot better than last year both on the ball and off the ball. I think a lot of that's just a product of playing and gaining some experience not only last year but in the summer league as well."

Clarkson is firm that he will just keep on improving and even called himself a blue-collar guy.

"I'm always going to be the same me," he said. "I'm the blue-collar guy."
