"The Last Of Us 2" may not still have a release date but Naughty Dog may have confirmed that the game will happen in the next few years as their next project.

Nolan North, who lends his voice for the main character of the game, however confirmed that the studio is working on the follow up to the post-apocalyptic title.

In a report by Game Rant, North appeared in front of a panel at the previously held MetroCon and said, "I know they're doing a 'Last of Us 2,'" after he was asked if he would be still work for Naughty Dog after the release of "Uncharted 4."

Meanwhile, speculations about "The Last Of Us 2" release date and plot reports, it has been pointed out by Movie Pilot, which was reported by Franchise Herald that there is a possibility that main character Joel would be killed off from the series and that Ellie might be the one continuing the game.

"If the sequel features the same characters and the same setting, most of us, if not all, don't want Joel to return," the report stated.

"Imagine an emotional scene where Joel dies in Ellie's arms, trying to save her from the Infected, maybe trying to kill a stage 5 Infected which got removed from the first game. After that, Ellie is all on her own, fighting for her survival. The game could feature many emotional scenes of Ellie remembering Joel."

It has been said that the theory may have materialized after North confirmed the game, yet wasn't sure if he would be part of it or not.

For now, the studio that brought us the games "The Last Of Us" and the "Uncharted" series may have their mouths shut for a possible report about "The Last Of Us 2" release date.

However, some fans believe that community strategist Eric Monacelli, writer Josh Scherr and lead animator Eric Baldwin may have slipped in a recent Naughty Dog live stream regarding the fate of the sequel.

In a report by IGN, Scherr, who was talking about the upcoming "Uncharted" game said about a "first" "Last Of Us," possibly giving a hint of an upcoming game.

"All the facial animation in the 'Uncharted' series was led up by Eric, here," he claimed, giving an impression and hint for "The Last Of Us 2" release date. "And [on] the first 'The Last of Us.' Uh, did I say the first The Last of Us?"
