WhatsApp Google Drive Backup To Earn More Users For Facebook And Google; Sales Seen To Increase

It has been anticipated that the WhatsApp Google Drive backup feature for Android will earn more users for Facebook and Google as the latter continues to increase its sales.

In a report by Bidness Etc., it was shared that with the partnership, numerous users of WhatsApp got excited upon knowing that they can already save and create backups of their chat histories as well as various files carrying some precious memories like photographs, videos and audio clippings "automatically by updating Google Drive."

The site added that with the Google Drive backup feature of the Facebook-owned messaging service, users can already "restore their data with ease" should they own another new Android device where they have the WhatsApp installed.

Bidness Etc. revealed that with the partnership, "Google has managed to easily secure 900 million of its users to its own platform."

"With the new feature, WhatsApp's wide range of users around the globe will automatically benefit from Google's Drive service which will help the tech-giant to lure in more users and promote the tech company's online Drive platform," the site noted.

It was further revealed that the alliance between WhatsApp and Google Drive for the messaging service's backup feature "will also help Google boost sales for its platform while promoting the Facebook-owned app simultaneously."

As stated by Google Drive in its blog, the feature is about "keeping memories safe."

It disclosed that almost a billion WhatsApp users "recount a story, watch a video or enjoy photos with family and friends" monthly.

However, WhatsApp users may need to wait a little longer since the Google Drive backup feature will only start rolling out in the next few months.

In the meantime, Digital Trends reported that every Google Drive user is only given 15GB of free space, thus, WhatsApp users may need to pay extra charges should they want to enjoy bigger storage.
