"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 debuted without Ian Somerhalder's ex Nina Dobrev and fans are less than impressed.

According to Digital Spy, quoting Nielsen figures, the exit of Nina Dobrev from "The Vampire Diaries" seemed to affect the CW series.

"The loss of Nina Dobrev seemed to have a major impact on The Vampire Diaries' season premiere on Thursday (October 8)," it said. "The Vampire Diaries was down three-tenths of a point from last fall with 0.6 (1.38m) at 8pm on The CW, while The Originals dipped to 0.4 (0.89m) at 9pm."

MTV ranked the characters who will be having a bad time in the season 7 of "The Vampire Diaries," and first on the list is Alaric for obvious reasons.

"Given the whole Wife/Unborn Children Were Massacred On His Wedding Day thing, Alaric (Matt Davis) is going to be topping this ranking for the foreseeable forever," it said.

The said "The Vampire Diaries" list is followed by Damon, played by Ian Somerhalder, who's the on-screen love interest of Nina Dobrev's Elena who is under a spell that will have her sleeping for decades.

Meanwhile, Nina Dobrev is allegedly trying to create as much distance between her and "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 as Ian Somerhalder's ex underwent a major makeover.

"The former CW star is doing everything she can to escape the stigma of her time on the supernatural drama, but her love triangle with Somerhalder and Nikki Reed seems unending," said CDL.

It was Nina Dobrev who broke up with Ian Somerhalder and it was reportedly because of him pressuring her into having babies, which she's not prepared for.

Ian Somerhalder's ex also explained to Who What Wear about her future plans.

"I want to do something dark and gritty," Nina Dobrev said. "I want to work with directors that I admire and that will make me better and actors that will challenge me and scare the sh*t out of me."
