Minnesota Timberwolves Trade Rumors: Kevin Martin On His Way Out?

The Minnesota Timberwolves are rumored to be moving shooting guard Kevin Martin as they plan to give the starting position to up and coming guard Zach LaVine?

According to Lang Greene of Basketball Insiders, although the Timberwolves are not completely willing to part ways with Martin, the team will give Zach Lavine majority of the minutes in the shooting guard position. The team is reportedly planning to give all their youngsters a huge chunk in order to develop them faster.

"The decision to relegate Martin to a reserve role likely had less to do with LaVine being the better player at the moment and more to do with the Timberwolves' full investment in the development of their young core."

Greene further stated that should Lavine grow accustomed to the role, they might just part ways with Martin as he will prove to be a valuable asset talent and contract wise to other teams.

"If LaVine steps into the role and performs well, Martin becomes one of the Timberwolves' most attractive trade assets and incredibly expendable. Martin is owed $7.1 million this season and holds a player option worth $7.4 million for the 2016-17 campaign. Martin's deal is flexible enough to attract a solid number of suitors if he becomes available."

According to Darren Wolfson of KSTP, fans won't see Martin leaving anytime soon and he might be part of the Minnesota Timberwolves until halfway of the season.
