Philadelphia 76ers News: Jahlil Okafor – Nerlens Noel Combo Will Have To Wait

76ers fans will just have to wait before they see the offensive center Jahlil Okafor and defensive juggernaut Nerlens Noel play at the same time.

According to Philly.com, 76ers head coach Brett Brown said that he might sit out the center from Duke until he becomes fit to play his desired 32 minutes per game. Also, Okafor is said to be suffering a sore right knee and is currently not participating in full contact activities.

"It's not fair to him, it's not fair to put him in that situation (to be fully ready by opening night)," said Brown. "The end game, I hope, will be about 32 minutes, maybe even more. But it's really based on his fitness."

"He has no right to come out and be fit right from this injury. So I have to be smart with the minutes I give him. That is the end game that I hope to get to, 32 minutes. It's going to be based on if you can go hard for four eight-minute stretches. If you can go for four eights, then that's a good thing."

With that said, fans won't immediately see the promising combination of Okafor and Noel. However, Brown gave a preview on how their team-up will actually look like.

"They play off of each other because if all of a sudden Nerlens is rolling and Jahlil occupies a man down there because he's Jahlil Okafor, well, Nerlens could roll into air, he can roll into space and play," said Brown. "I think as far as running, that's going to be on (Noel) and not be influenced by Jahlil."

"But in a halfcourt game, because Jahlil is going to require some attention, I think it will create space for Nerlens just like (Robert) Covington creates space for Nerlens, just in a different way."
