Milwaukee Bucks News: Greg Monroe Shares Why He Choose Bucks Over Knicks, Lakers And Blazers

It is such a rare sight in today's NBA to see a player sign with a small market team as nowadays, bright lights of LA and New York seem to attract many.

That is the story of former Detroit Pistons forward Greg Monroe, who decided to sign with a small market team like the bucks despite being offered max contract by the Lakers, Knicks and Blazers.

What is Monroe's reason? Simply because the Bucks present the immediate chance to contend. The forward spoke with Yahoo Sports and he said that choosing the Bucks is purely a basketball decision.

"If I'm in a city where I have to sit inside all day, I'm fine. I like to have fun. I like to do things, but that's not going to ever determine my decision as far as where I play basketball," Monroe said. "I've lived in different places and I was comfortable in all those places."

"Where I was living wasn't the biggest thing for me, so it was definitely, purely a basketball decision. I was looking at where I felt I would have the most success, where I would fit in, help a team and continue to move forward. I definitely feel like I made the right decision."

What's not to love with the Bucks? Not only did they made the playoffs last season, but they also present an intriguing line-up of immensely talented youngsters like Giannis Antetoukonmpo, Jabari Parker, Michael Carter-Williams, to name a few. Not to mention, his best friend, Khris Middleton also plays for the Bucks.

Coach Jason Kidd also said that Monroe probably sees the work they are putting on in this team.

"It just shows that maybe we're doing something right," Kidd said. "It used to be about the city. Now I think it's about winning. I think the world's gotten smaller. All games are on TV now."

Should the other NBA teams start fearing the deer? Stay tuned.
