Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Thinner But Faster; Release Date In The U.S. Set On Oct. 26

The newest version of the Microsoft-produced gadget, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, carries with it some improvements as compared to its predecessor, a certain review revealed.

In his own assessment of the newly-announced device, Brooke Crothers of Fox News pointed out a number of reasons why the latest version of the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet can be a good buy.

He noted that based on his hands-on review of the device, he can summarize his thoughts by saying that "the Surface Pro 4 is thinner than the Pro 3 but faster - and with a bigger display."

Crothers stated that while it is a challenging job to come up with a gadget that is faster yet thinner, "Microsoft managed to shave off fractions of an inch while at the same time making the Surface Pro 4's display slightly larger (now 12.3 inches versus the previous 12 inches) without making the overall tablet larger."

With this, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 only weighs 1.7 pounds.

In terms of display, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 boasts of a 12.3-inch screen which has a resolution of 2,736 x 1,824.

When compared to Dell's XPS 13 touchscreen laptop, which has one of the highest resolution laptops on the market today, Crothers "didn't notice any glaring difference in resolution."

When it comes to performance, the review dished that the new product is based on Intel's newest Skylake (gen 6) chip, which makes it faster than the Pro 3, which only has Intel Haswell (gen 4) chip.

In the meantime, PC Advisor UK reported that Microsoft's latest tablet's release date has been set on Oct. 26, with a price that starts at £749 or $899.

Meanwhile, the tech site shared that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will not go on sale in the UK until Nov. 12, while its Core i7 model will be out by Dec. 10.
