Auto Backup, Flex Storage Among Android 6.0 Marshmallow’s Awesome Features; iOS Still Better?

The latest version of Google-developed mobile operating system, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, is reportedly packed with awesome features.

With the new operating system update for mobile devices, Android users are expected to have a different yet better experience.

Tech site Cheat Sheet revealed five major changes that the upgrade is giving to its anticipating fans.

The report cited the auto backup and app restore through Google Drive feature as among the must-watch inclusions of Android 6.0. This development will allow Android users to automatically back up to the cloud all app data, settings and progress upto 25 MB.

With the fact that the backup process will only take once a day via WiFi or when the charger is connected, the battery will not be drained easily, something which Cheat Sheet defined as an "excellent news."

Apart from this, the so-called Flex Storage is also among the must-wait Android 6.0 Marshmallow features.

The tech site noted that with such improvement in the new OS, Android users can already use and format their external storage (e.g. micro SD card) like an internal storage.

"In short, now we'll be able to store applications, app data and personal data on our SD cards, and we can move said data freely between external and internal sources," Cheat Sheet explained.

It was likewise shared that Android M offers more precise cut-copy-paste options, more control over app permissions and improved battery life through Doze.

On the other hand, Galen Gruman of Info World commented that Apple's operating system, the iOS, "still does privacy app better than Android."

It was pointed out that despite the feature that allows Android 6.0 Marshmallow users to control app access to personal data and services, iOS still does it better.

Gruman narrated, "For several versions, Android has shown users what data and services an app wants to use when the app is installed, but you could only accept or reject them all."

He went on to explain that "you could not deactivate permissions (such as to your contacts or camera) later."

Unlike the iOS, mobile owners can easily "manage specifically what data and services each app can use after you install it."

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow features can already be experienced since the Developer Preview is now available for Nexus phone owners in United Kingdom, reported the PC Advisor UK.
