NBA Trade Rumors: Lakers And Bulls Working Out Brandon Bass For Taj Gibson Deal?

As the new NBA season comes nearer, new NBA trade rumors are surfacing and this time, it looks like Taj Gibson will be moved to the LA Lakers in exchange for Brandon Bass.

In a report by Yibada, the Lakers are making a strong push for Gibson as they have been coveting the forward for quite some time now.

"Chat Sports' Brian Rauf first brought out the idea of a trade involving these two undersized power forwards," Yibada wrote.

"It was reported that the Lakers had interest over Gibson for a couple of years now, but there were no opportunities for the team to really seek him out."

But this deal would not make much sense since both players are playing the same position plus Gibson has been more productive in the past few years. Despite Chicago boasting a frontline of Joakim Noah, Pau Gasol, Nikola Mirotic and rookie Bobby Portis, dealing Gibson would not be the best course of action for the Bulls per Basket Bulls Blog.

"So, if Taj is such a great team player who produces at a high level for a minimal dollar amount, why trade him? Supply and demand. The Bulls had too many good big men last year and they added an extremely talented rookie power forward in Bobby Portis which means their are too many power forwards and too few minutes to go around in Chicago."

The blog further added that Chicago could get someone else better in return instead of Bass.

"Add to this that power forwards are in high demand and you have a great trade situation for the Bulls to get max value in return for a player they do not desperately need."

Should the Bulls pull the trigger on this trade?  Sound off in the comment section below.
