Denver Nuggets PG Emmanuel Mudiay Headlines Rookies To Watch This Season

The Denver Nuggets is now moving on from the Ty Lawson era and is now handing the keys to rookie point guard Emmanuel Mudiay.

The management traded Ty Lawson to the Houston Rockets last July and it just shows how much faith they have on Mudiay.

"Ty's a great player," Mudiay said via Yahoo Sports. "But for the organization to show confidence to bring me in is more of a confidence builder for me."

The rookie knows how much the team has struggled the past few seasons and he said that he will do his best to turn their fortune around.

"The last two years have been rocky for [the Nuggets]," Mudiay said. "But I'm going to just come in here and do the best I can to change that. I'm trying to win. When you win, everything is definitely better.

He also said that he is ready to take on the expectations and live up to his draft status.

"Being a rookie, being a high pick, you're kind of thrown into a situation where you have to develop. The team will develop as well."

So far, the rookie has been amazing and his teammates see it too. Kenneth Faried praised his young teammate and he always encourages the young point guard to do what he does best.

"From the first two games to now, he has really progressed as a point guard," Faried said. "He had turnovers the first two preseason games, but now he's confident. We're telling him to stay confident and stay on attack mode and he's doing just that."

In fact, the point guard is talking to former Nuggets point guard Chauncey Billups on how to become a reliable playmaker just like him.

"If you really want to be on that level, you really need to seek out who is out there and who has done it," Mudiay said.

Other rookies on the said watch list is Minnesota's Karl-Anthony Towns, Philadelphia's Jahlil Okafor, Lakers D'Angelo Russell and Detroit's Stanley Johnson.
