New York Knicks Star Carmelo Anthony Shrugs Off Criticisms That Team Will Only Win 27 Games

The New York Knicks will be one of the more interesting teams to watch this seasons as no one can tell if they will manage to crack the playoffs with the additions they got this past off-season.

The Knicks managed to land Portland's Arron Afflalo and Robin Lopez and former 2nd overall pick Derrick Williams via free agency. But, all eyes are on Latvian rookie Kristaps Porzingis who will be closely looked at if he is indeed worth taking the risk for.

But, all goes back to the franchise star, Carmelo Anthony as he is the one expected to spearhead this young team. Marc Berman of ESPN spoke with the superstar and he was asked how he think his team will fare this coming season.

"I don't care about that. It will be (a big year) - for sure it will be, Anthony said. "I think they go off what they saw last. For me, I know where I stand in this league. For somebody else to say what I am or not, that's way beyond me."

"Nobody cares what kind of year you had if you're on a losing team. Regardless of if I average 30 [points] and we win 30-something games, it will still be a down year all the way around. Nobody cares about that. Everybody goes back to the 54-win season when we had a good team and were winning and everybody gets the pub and the shine. We're going to be alright. I'm not concerned about myself at all."

Also, for those who believe that his team won't even win more than 30 games, he laughed off the suggestion and simply told everyone to keep a close watch. Via Marc Berman of the New York Post:

"I think we will be better than people predict. If you're predicting 27 wins, I laugh at that. We use that as kind of motivation. But it's a good thing to be under the radar."
