Manny Pacquiao Next Fight Update: Lucas Matthysse Poised To Be Pac-Man's Next Opponent?

Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao is back to square one as his supposed next fight against Amir Khan has been called off by the British boxer.

This is because Pacquiao is allegedly waiting for recently retired Floyd Mayweather Jr. to unretired and give him a rematch.

"I'm really disappointed at Manny and his team," Khan said via Opening Round. "They aren't playing ball. All that was left to do was sign the contract. But they are stalling."

That is also confirmed by Top Rank promoter Bob Arum and he suggested to Pacquiao to forget about it and move on.

"He would like to fight [Floyd] Mayweather again, but since this is his last fight, I told him he needs to forget about it and move on," said Arum, per Pugmire.

"If you ask me, of course, I want a rematch," Pacquiao said last Oct. 12, via Fox Sports. "I heard that he retired already. If he really retired, then there's no rematch. But if not..."

Should the Mayweather rematch doesn't happen as well, it looks like Lucas Matthysse is the favorite to face Manny Pacquiao in his potential last fight.

According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya, they are arranging a potential match-up between Pacquiao and Matthyse.

"There is a guy who manages Manny Pacquiao, and I am already in conversations with this gentleman to make a fight between Pacquiao and Matthysse," said Dela Hoya per Victor Salazar of Tha Boxing Voice.

"It could be a complicated fight, but that's why Lucas is preparing so well. He has some great sparring partners to work with and he'll be ready."

Matthysse is currently 37-3 with 34 victories coming via knockout. Pacquiao, meanwhile stands at 57-6 with 38 by way of knockout.
