Google Hangouts Vs Microsoft Skype: What Are The Latest In These Messaging Services?

When it comes to finding a messaging service, the scenario could be Google Hangouts vs Microsoft Skype since it seems that they are among the most popular choices these days, as several reports would suggest.

And with the recent developments in these messaging platforms, according to reports, may somehow bolster their competition.

In its blog, Skype announced that even non-subscribers can now enjoy the services that it comes with.

"We've been hard at work and are pleased to announce that now Skype users worldwide can invite anyone to join a Skype chat by sharing a unique link and anyone can join as a Guest on Skype for Web," the announcement read. Could this be another reason for the Hangouts vs Skype battle to go further?

The announcement continued by saying that Skype users must make sure, though, that they are "on the latest version of Skype for Windows, Mac or Web, click +New and send your unique URL to anyone, even if they're not on Skype."

Skype added that even if the change may be regarded as "small," it "will make a big difference to how people use Skype every day."

In the meantime, after this announcement was released and after Microsoft issued its Office 2016 productivity suite, Google declared that the company will pay those businesses that will make a shift to Google Apps, which include Hangouts, Calendar, Drive for cloud storage, Docs for word processing, Sheets for spreadsheets, Forms, Slides for presentations and a website builder, according to Mashable.

"Google is now so hell-bent on attracting new Google Apps customers," the site noted. "It's offering to cover the costs of outstanding enterprise agreements companies may have with other enterprise software companies like Microsoft."

Mashable disclosed that coming up with solutions for business enterprises have become so popular for Google and Microsoft considering the revenue that they can actually rake in from them.

"Multiply $5 a month by 2,000 bodies and you're looking at $120,000 a year in in fees," the site pointed out. "Who wouldn't want that business?"
