Jimmer Fredette Officially A Bust? San Antonio Spurs Give Up On Former College Star

It looks like Jimmer Fredette's NBA career is over as the San Antonio Spurs decided to cut him off. Where does he go from here?

The San Antonio Spurs are known to have a keen eye when it comes to talents overlooked by most teams. Hence, that speaks a lot on Jimmer's game and one NBA assistant knows why his game will never work in the NBA.

"Jimmer thinks everybody is stupid," said an NBA assistant who worked with Fredette via Yahoo Sports. "He thinks everybody needs to come and just turn over their offense and let him shoot it anytime he wants. That's not how the league works."

His below average physical tools are also another reason for his poor showing in his four years in the league.

"His foot speed at that position isn't on par with those guys. That's a big deal," the NBA assistant said. "I think the big thing for Jimmer is not offensively but defensively."

But what might have turned off many teams is his inability to adjust.

"He won't adjust his game for it," he said. "He'll tell you, 'This is what I did at BYU.' Well, BYU, that's a long time ago."

Looking on the bright side, it might not be the end yet for Fredette, according to an anonymous NBA coach, he has the chance to be the next J.J. Redick at best.

"J.J. is a good example for him," one of his NBA coaches said. "He had done a lot of prolific scoring in college, but came in and eventually figured out the NBA. He changed his body. He learned the league. He's had a hell of a career, but it wasn't easy for him early on."

"In college everything was geared around him," his former coach said. "He's had to learn how to play off other people here, and that's been a struggle for him."
