'Star Wars' Mark Hamill Hoped Luke Skywalker Would Turn Evil, He Could've Been Darth Vader?

"Star Wars" Mark Hamill actually thought that Luke Skywalker's fate would be totally different from how it turned out to be in the actual film.

The "Star Wars" fever doesn't look like it is going to die down anytime soon especially since "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" makes it's theatrical release later this year. One of the most interesting news, apart from the recent release of the film's newest trailer, is "Star Wars" Mark Hamill's thoughts on Luke Skywalker turning evil.

On an episode of Kevin Smith's "Dinner For Five" show, Mark Hamill said "As an actor that would be more fun to play. I just thought that’s the way it was going from when we finished. I figured that’s what will be the pivotal moment.

"I’ll have to come back, but it will be I have Han Solo in my crosshairs and I’ll be about to kill him or about to kill the Princess or about to kill somebody that we care about. It’ll be an old cornball movie, like World War II movies."

While turning evil didn't make it to the final cut on the film, io9 reported that one of the unknown facts about "Return of the Jedi" is that George Lucas originally wanted Luke Skywalker to become Darth Vader in the end. His last lines were reportedly supposed to be "Now I am Vader. Now I will go and kill the [Rebel] fleet and I will rule the universe."

According to Polygon, the actor even pitched his some of his ideas to George Lucas. Hamill gave ideas from how the hair of Luke Skywalker should've been as a Jedi which was then used during Anakin Skywalker's day as a young Jedi.

Apart from the thoughts of "Star Wars" Mark Hamill, an interesting part of the episode on "Dinner For Five" is where, apart from the "Star Wars" actor, the young director J.J. Abrams was present. It must be some twist of fate as J.J. Abrams is the director for the latest film installment of the "Star Wars" franchise.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be released on Dec. 18, 2015.
