Bob Arum Fully Supports Manny Pacquiao Bid For Senatorial Position; Pac-Man Says He Won’t Be A Corrupt Politician

Manny Pacquiao's boxing career is nearing its twilight zone but his journey to become one of the higher ranked politicians in his home country, the Philippines is just about to begin.

Pac-Man expressed his desire to run for senator a few weeks ago and Top Rank CEO Bob Arum is fully supporting his perhaps most prized fighter in his new venture.

"Manny told me this would be his last fight, and I'm not sad about it, because he's going on to a political career which will require a lot of mental acuity, so you don't want him to stay in boxing too long," he told ESPN.com's Dan Rafael.

"There are hundreds of congressmen, but if he wins the senate seat he has to be there to do the work," Arum said. "They do the real work in the senate in the Philippines, not just make a lot of bulls--- speeches like they do in the congress."

Not only that, Bob Arum also believes Pacquiao winning as a Senator will get him one step closer to his ultimate dream, to become the next president of the Philippines.

"It's a real job, and if Manny is serious about wanting to be president, these six years in the senate would be like an audition and for him to show his people that he really is a serious politician," the promoter said.

With that said, Pacquiao wants his intentions to be known to the masses as he said that he won't ever be a corrupt politician.

According to ABS-CBN news, Pacquiao iterated that he will be a politician with solid conviction and will be true to his desire to help the poor. He will also join presidential candidate Jejomar Binay in the party UNA as the controversial presidential candidate supported Pac-Man in his congressional bid last 2013.
