Apple recently rolled out an update for its iOS devices via the iOS 9.1 update and with this, the company also introduced a newer set of emojis for people to enjoy and use.

Some people, however, are curious to know if the icons could be seen or work with the Android OS.

In a report by Gadgets 360, it has been confirmed that the new iOS 9.1 emojis still supports Unicode 7 and Unicode 8, which means that it could still work and appear on the Android devices.

According to the report, Senior Vice President of Android, Chrome OS, and Chromecast Hiroshi Lockheimer also confirmed that they would roll out new emojis as well after confirming on his Twitter account that they are working on it as of the moment.

"So I have a feeling y'all want new emojis? a) Thanks for the feedback, b) We're on it, and c) Sorry!"

In addition to that, more emojis are expected to roll out in mid-2016 following the 184 emojis added in the latest iOS 9.1 update. According to the source, an update for Unicode 9.0 should include a face palm and nauseated face on top of the recently released set of icons such as taco, burrito, cheese wedge, middle finger, champagne bottle, unicorn head, among others.

Meanwhile, a report from iDigital Times revealed that users that are currently using a jailbroken device could possibly use the emojis seen in iOS 9.1 without upgrading their firmware since there are no jailbreaks introduced for the latest operating system as of the moment.

According to the site, PoomSmart has developed a way that could allow jailbreak users on 9.0.0, 9.0.1 and 9.0.2 see the icons via a tweak.
