With the premiere of the "Pokemon XY & Z" anime, certain fans have noticed major spoilers that could foreshadow the future of the series, and even the gaming franchise.

During the premiere episode of the new anime, Ash not only encountered friendly rival Sawyer, but Team Flare was also featured attempting to utilize Zygarde for their purposes. During a particular scene between Ash and Sawyer, some fans noticed Gym badges that have never been seen before.

"Sawyer had three different gym badges than Ash," noted reddit user Riley123444. "I know in the past episodes of the anime they have featured other badges which have never appeared, but just fun speculation here. Does anyone think it may be a preview to new gyms appearing in the upcoming Z game?"

Based on the image of the three new Gym badges, they would appear to coincide with Water, Fire and Flying-type Gym Leaders.

While there's still no confirmed new Pokemon game despite the many hints to the contrary, The Pokemon Company International's Director of Consumer Marketing J.C. Smith dropped the biggest hint yet regarding the future of the franchise.

During the 2015 Pokemon World Championships over the weekend, Nintendo World Report asked Smith to give one word regarding the future of the series.

"Flowers," he replied.

The first thought observers went to was the currently unobtainable Floette belonging to the "Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y" character AZ.

Should there be a "Pokemon Z," it is likely to focus on Zygarde and possibly Team Flare's mission to use it to their advantage. In the recent "Pokemon XY & Z" anime, it can be seen that Alain—first introduced in the Mega Evolution Specials—will be affiliated with Team Flare somehow.
