LA Lakers News: Is Kobe Bryant Still The Alpha Dog? Season Opener A Sign Of End On Era?

The Los Angeles Lakers opened the season with a 112-111 loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves and many was surprised who took the last shot.

The Lakers had the chance to win the ball game and many were expecting Kobe Bryant to take the last shot. However, it was Lou Williams who tried to go for it and ultimately missed the potential game-winner.

Does this signal that the Lakers is no longer Bryant's team? For Kobe, that was a good shot selection and he couldn't have asked for more.

"We got a good shot," Bryant said via Yahoo Sports. "That's Lou's shot. That's a great runner for him. It hit the back heel. It's a great look for him."

Also, head coach Byron Scott wanted the ball in Lou's hands in the first place as he has the hot hand and was able to knock down a three that put them only down by one.

"I had my mind the whole time to give it to him," Scott said.

Nevertheless, it is a long season and as games pass by, Kobe said he will regain his timing back in due time.

"I felt good," Bryant said. "The shots didn't fall down in the fourth quarter, but my health felt good. That timing will come back."

Coach Scott also have some few notes for Kobe to take note of after the game.

"I still want him a little closer to the basket," Scott said. "If I can get him in the elbows and mid-post and let him work there, I think that saves him just as well, too."

Julius Randle also shares his thoughts on the loss and said the main reason for their defeat is lacking the will to finish strong.

"Overall, we just lost our edge," Randle said. "We didn't finish the game or make plays, so we lost the game."
