Plastic surgeries are just about as common in the K-Pop world as hair dye and strict workout schedules. South Korea as a whole ranks at the top of the list worldwide for percentage of the population who has willingly gone under the knife and the government has focused a lot of resources on improving the medical tourism industry in the country.

In general, Korean fans have not thought about it much until recently. A new wave of drastic plastic surgeries among idol stars, both male and female, has forced many netizens to voice concern on the internet, expressing that the pop stars are going too far to look perfect.

Most recently, Bom, a member of YG Entertainment's power girl group 2NE1, has been the star of focus in this topic. Since her debut as a singer in 2009, it has been pointed out that her appearance and facial structure has changed dramatically from a "charm face" to a "celebrity face." She is rumored to have had not just the ever-popular eyelid surgery, making her eyes appear much larger and "unnatural," but also work done to her nose which is now more pointed than before.

Bom's puffy and stiff face has caused many to accuse her of having Botox injections, as evidenced by the lack of lines on her face.

Many fans have posted on the internet and pleaded with the singer and her management YG Entertainment to stop the surgeries before it is too late and her face is ruined forever. One fan commented that "It's like her plastic surgeon is just using her face as a canvas now," while another wonders what Bom's ideal face looks like. The general reaction to the singer's latest surgery, however, as been one of genuine concern and many hope this is the last time the 2NE1 front woman will undergo cosmetic surgery.

The singer does not deny that she has had appearance-altering surgeries, but she does deny they were for beauty reasons. Bom shared with the world that she suffers from a lymph node disease and that is why her face appears puffy and stiff, as well as why she needs to occasionally have work done.
