Juniel, 'I Want to Take It Easy and Enjoy Music and Life'

Solo sing-a-song writer Juniel is back. Moving away from the sad, emotional type of music that comprised the majority of her debut album, Juniel now sings about cute, puppy love. Her title song, "A Cute Guy," along with charming choreography, is the epitome of 'girly.'

About the switch of colors, Juniel commented, "I wanted to show something new because my music was so dark the first time. I did enough sad songs in the debut album so I thought it was time to smile a little."

She revealed that she peruses online community boards once in a while to get a sense of what the public wants. But as a 20-year-old, she does not read too much of it as there are often more hurtful messages than constructive criticism.

Fortunately, there are things that did not change. Her acoustic guitar has been her partner and best friend since the first album and still remains right by her in the new album.

"I think I will always keep my guitar with me when I sing. Have you ever seen me sing without my guitar? My hands get very awkward because I do not know where to put them," Juniel said.

She again wrote her own songs in this album, including "Date" and "Sleep Talk."

Juniel offered bits and pieces of her philosophy as well. "I used to get stressed about becoming the best and winning awards and things like that. I got physically weaker and depression came knocking on my door. Then I realized something was wrong with the picture. If I am doing something I love, I should just enjoy it."

In conclusion, Juniel emphasized remembering why over what.

"I do not want to try so hard as to hurt myself. I will take it easy and slow for the rest of my life, playing the music I love," Juniel said, like an enlightened sage much older than her age.
