For those who are unaware, the cattle prices in South Korea are plunging. The unfortunate result of this is cattle farmers in Korea are starving cows to death to lower the supply and try to raise the prices again. Needless to say, animal treatment and living conditions is an extremely controversial issue. Enter Lee Hyori.

Lee Hyori tweeted "You say there are many people who die of hunger and ask what the big deal is if cows die of hunger but isn't there any means of an easier death?" on January 14^th. Given that Hyori has over 300,000 followers, the message was received and commented on by hundreds of thousands of people, causing quite a stir.

Most people were outraged and made comments which supported the farmers. In short, Netizens’ replies said the cattle farmers were not happy about starving their cattle and were doing it to survive, not out of protest or spite.
