Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-gyo, stars of the 2016 hit drama "Descendants of the Sun," announced Wednesday they are getting married on the last day of October 2017.

The early morning announcement came as a surprise to many, as the two have flatly denied news reports that they were dating previously. However, now official statements have been released by the couple's companies. "Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-gyo plan to marry on Oct. 31," said Blossom Entertainment and UAA, the companies representing the two stars.

"The situation demanded caution as marriage is a joining of not just two people but of two families," the companies said.
