BTS's Personas and True Selves

"Bangtan Attic", 2019 FESTA dinner video was released on June 13, 2019, this is for their 6th-anniversary celebration. BTS members talked about their past and present selves. Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook shared their differences from Kim Seokjin, Kim Namjoon, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, and Jeon Jungkook.

Jungkook said, "Jungkook of BTS shines bright, but Jeon Jungkook is insignificant. I didn't study much when I was little. And I think I'm slower than others."

Rm did not share anything. "Honestly, I've already talked about this in my lyrics, so I want to hear what others say", he said.

Jin revealed that he was trying his best to be cheerful in the camera, but he has a dark side as Kim Seokjin. People who knew the real Kim Seokjin always say he is different from Jin's persona.

V said, "I don't really know how I'm different". For him, V and Kim Taehyung are just the same. On the other hand, Jimin said his persona and true self are very contrasting. It was really hard for Jimin to coexist with them. "I think I'm very different. As BTS, I tend to be assertive and I'm a very confident guy. But what troubles me is whether Jimin as BTS and Park Jimin should be more alike or different. That's always on my mind. I don't know whether to separate that, or whether to be more the same", explained Jimin.

RM told Jimin that his question has no answer, because of their entwined personas and true self.

J-Hope mentioned being pressured with what his stage name made him as the person he is today. RM told J-Hope not to worry about anything, because BTS will always be there to help him if he is feeling down. "My BTS stage name is J-Hope. I think my name made me. And I think that's made me afraid. No afraid. Yeah, I feel pressured. I can get tired and lose my energy. But that makes people worry so much. That's why I feel pressured at times", explained J-Hope.

Suga had the best explanation. Suga said, "We can't always be the same. "FAKE LOVE" was about that. About hiding behind masks. People might say we're pretentious, or maybe that we're two-faced, but that goes for everyone, not just celebrities. We don't have to worry about behaving a certain way to someone then differently to someone else."
