On January 13, SM Entertainment made an announcement regarding EXO member Chen.

An official from SM Entertainment stated, “Chen has met someone precious and was in a relationship for some time now. The two plans to get married and it will be a private ceremony with only close friends and family. Chen's soon-to-be wife is a non-celebrity, so we ask everyone, especially the fans, to be understanding of the matter, and please continue to support Chen and give him your blessings as he ventures on into a new life with his wife."

"The speculations about the bride is also true, she is pregnant, but because she is not a celebrity, we are unable to disclose all information. Thank you," the representative continued.

The EXO member also wrote a handwritten letter to his fans that starts with "I am very nervous as I write this down.."
