A lot of K-pop idols who already belong in a group channel their versatility and skills in their respective sub-units. These units have separate music releases and usually have different concepts. It also varies from specialized units, project units, and units consisting of labelmates within the same or different agencies. With no further ado, here are a few of the many sub-units from various groups that deserve more recognition of how amazing they are.

1. Got7 - Jus2

Jus2 is a duo consisting of JB and Yugyeom from Got7. The pair is the second unit formed from Got7 after the JJ Project, which meant that it is "a combination of the words just and two." Created by JYP Entertainment, Jus2 released their first album 'Focus' on the 5th of March in 2019, which contains six tracks, with 'Focus On Me' as the title track. The songs 'Drunk on You,' 'Touch,' 'Senses,' 'Love Talk,' and 'Long Black,' complete the whole album.

2. Wanna One units

The Produce 101 Season 2 project group Wanna One formed four units for their summer album '1÷x=1 (UNDIVIDED)' that was released on June 4, 2018. During their reality show 'Wanna One Go: X-CON', the said group formed their units through numerous activities where legendary producers such as Heize, Nell, Dynamic Duo, and ZICO are also included. After a few episodes, it has been decided that the units are divided into four. It is 'Triple Position' with Kang Daniel, Park Woojin and Kim Jaehwan, 'The Heal' with by Lee Daehwi and Ong Seongwu, 'Lean On Me' with by Yoon Jisung, Hwang Minhyun and Ha Sungwoon, and 'No.1' with by Lai Kuanlin, Park Jihoon, and Bae Jinyoung. Through their 3rd mini-album, each member showed their unique style and preferences as apart from other members through their units.

3. Stray Kids - 3RACHA

3RACHA is a hip-hop sub-unit group also formed under JYP Entertainment, which consists of Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han from Stray Kids. Their unit also became a part of JYP's survival show titled Stray Kids and currently a part of the project. The members are credited in this sub-unit and are known that they produced the majority of Stray Kids' discography alongside JYP producers. This unit was already formed before they debuted as a part of Stray Kids in 2016 and uploaded their first untitled mixtape, J:/2017/mixtape, on Soundcloud.

4. LOONA - yyxy

Stylized as 'LOOΠΔ/yyxy', it is the third and final pre-debut sub-unit of the girl group LOOΠΔ. They debuted with members Yves, Chuu, Gowon, and Olivia Hye on the 30th of May, 2018 with their mini-album 'beauty&thebeat.' Wai-wai-bai-wai from the Sino-Korean root meaning 'Girl of the Month', combined with the made-up neanthropic chromosome 'yyxy'. Talking on different concepts and stories made by the group, yyxy is composed of four girls held in a separate dimension called Ede, and this journey is about the ego of the youth. Being in love, hurt, broken, but still stepping forward, the girls capture moments of youth to complete an ego. They express that ego is falling in love with themselves and that they must first love themselves before loving others. They declare neanthropic chromosome yyxy, different to xx or xy chromosomes.
