TREI boy band departed from the Banana Culture Entertainment in February of 2019. The three members of the group confirmed on June 18 that they had ended their contractual agreements with the agency and conveyed their opinions with fans.

Though the band did not say explicitly that they had disbanded, their messages indicate that they are planning to move on separately.

"Hello, it's Kim Jun Tae. We made the decision to end our contractual agreements after cordial conversations with Banana Culture Entertainment. We've been so glad to get so much love as TREI. I'll be striving to improve and immediately come back. All who got to wait for us, I sincerely apologize," he said.

"Hi, Chang Hyun here. We decided to discontinue our contractual agreements after courteous conversations with Banana Culture. And I seek your support and encouragement in my new starting point. I'm going to come back with good music. Thank you!" The idol stated.

Fans then shared their mixed emotions through social media.

"DUDE WHAT?!! I just found them literally recently and decided to support and watch 100s of videos the whole day to grow up knowing more about them and this now?? Ah, I've got the very worst luck. Hoped I found them sooner and I wish they weren't so underestimated :( I hope they 're all well and hope that they'll find happiness and contentment in whatever they do after this!"

"I lost all hope of a comeback just after the new year with no pieces of information and updates on the official TREI accounts. They were among my favorite bands. I'm sad and sorry but reassured that we've got closure at last ... I'm going to help them 100 percent on their own roads. Your album is incredible, and I absolutely suggest it, it's a gem."

"They deserve so much better, their premiere was really excellent that I keep hoping they can proceed on the music route."

"It was so better I absolutely adore their premiere. You must not end up wasting your privilege about the talent they're all so naturally gifted, and it would be tragic to just quit creating music."

"I feel sorry for Jae Jun. First with C-Clown, then Trei. I am shocked that he stayed that long, tbh. The agency failed him."

TREI began as a duo, consisting of Lee Jae Jun and Chae Chang Hyun. They produced a digital single called "Up" in August 2017 and ended up joining the MIXNINE survival program a few months later.

In May 2018, the band named Kim Jun Tae as a new recruit. They released their pre-debut track "Nike" in sequence. Banana Culture asserted on December 14 that the team is making preparations for its debut in early 2019.

On February 1, the company announced that the band will release their debut mini-album, "Born," on February 19.

To mark its 200-day launch milestone on September 7, the company posted the group's official colors. The three colors would each form the trio's permanent color scheme.
