ONCEs are livid.

On June 30, netizens and fans, particularly the fandom of TWICE, ONCEs, are not happy when a French Television channel, M6, allegedly disrespected the group in one of its broadcast.

In particular, in light of BLACKPINK's comeback, the TV channel aired a short documentary about the K-pop group, introducing the group as well as commending its popularity in the international country. In addition to this, BLACKPINK's achievement for being the girl group with most views in 24 hours was also praised in the documentary.

However, during the broadcast, unnecessary comparison to other groups, including BTS and TWICE, were mentioned, leading for the fandoms to express their disappointment to the channel.

In the documentary, they described TWICE as, "BLACKPINK is far from a standard group like TWICE, they are numerous (9 members is a lot), who are similar and are in softer (cute) concepts." (a French fan's translation)

ONCEs then are questioning M6 or Metropole Television why they had to involve and mention other K-pop groups to justify the other girl group's influence and popularity.

In addition to this, some K-pop enthusiasts are also expressing their opinions that their comment to TWICE was really disrespectful, which allegedly conveys racism and gender stereotypes. The term "they look similar," didn't set well to fans as it seemed like they were generalizing all Asians, according to netizens.

In addition to this, calling them the "standard" feels like they are discrediting the group's hard work and achievement by comparing them to an equally unique and talented girl group.

Due to this, the hashtag #M6ApologizetoTwice trended on Twitter real-time as fans and other K-pop fans seek clarifications and apology from the broadcasting channel.

Furthermore, along with the hashtag, people are also attaching the achievements of TWICE, which includes their popularity in Japan as well as being dubbed as the "Nation's Girl Group."

Fans are also mentioning the group's songs, which speak women empowerment, and at the same time, the various genres they have tried. Moreover, netizens are justifying that the group isn't just a normal group because TWICE currently holds the record for being the best-selling K-pop group in history.

Meanwhile, ONCEs are waiting for the official apology of the TV channel. Some huge fansites warned that if the show still continues to ignore them, the fandom will send emails to the idol group's agency, JYP Entertainment, reporting them for defamation.
