Though K-pop idols usually do everything they can to make their fans happy and cheerful, it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. Here are eight instances where things idols have said caused fans to burst in tears.

1. Red Velvet's Yeri

For her birthday this year, Yeri shared a video of her singing "Through it All" by Charlie Puth. Though it is just a cover, fans feel like the line "God only knows, I've been through it all" suits Yeri all too well. Though she is only 21-years-old, the idol has had to deal with massive hate since her debut in 2015. She also experienced losing one of her closest friends, Jonghyun, in 2017 when she was only eighteen-year-old. And even during his funeral, the girl received hate. She has definitely gone through a lot, and it's sad that she has had to endure so much hardships despite her young age.

2. BTS

In 2018, BTS tearfully revealed during their acceptance speech at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) that they had considered disbandment. It was shocking for most fans, as 2018 was arguably the most successful years they had, earning worldwide fame that year. They revealed the members were having a hard time emotionally and had already spoken about going their own ways. That year, they had undergone a lot of unforeseen events, which caused the members to worry, stress, and be frightened. In the end, they decided to keep the group together.

Other idols were seen crying during BTS's speech, such as TWICE's Nayeon and Jihyo, Ha Sungwoon, Park Jihoon, Kang Daniel, Sunmi, and Oh My Girl's Seunghee. The BTS members themselves were in tears while giving their speech.

3. GOT7's Jackson

In 2014, Jackson was a castmate of the reality show "Roommate". Throughout the show, Jackson would mention how much he misses his family but would do his best to keep up a good mood. During their Christmas episode, however, the cast members invited family members and friends to spend Christmas with them. Jackson's family, however, were in Hong Kong and he could not invite them. Jackson was visibly upset that he could not spend the holidays with them.

During the episode, Jo Seho asked Jackson to send a video message to his mother. While saying the message, he started shedding tears, showing how much he misses his family. As he cried, Park Jinyoung revealed he had a gift for Jackson. His mom and dad both entered the room and Jackson burst into tears, running up to them and hugging them while telling his parents how much he missed them. The scene was so heartwrenching and touching, even the cast members started crying.

4. TWICE's Tzuyu

In 2016, TWICE's Tzuyu and Jeongyeon appeared on the variety show "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator". While they were there, Tzuyu spoke about how the dishes reminded her of the Chinese food she would eat with her family back in Taiwan, and Jeongyeon revealed that Tzuyu would say the food they were eating reminded her of her mother. One of the panelists then said that eating oriental food must remind Tzuyu of her mother.

To everyone's surprise, the idol ended up bursting into tears at the thought of her mom. Jeongyeon revealed that Tzuyu has never cried on broadcast before and that it was her first time. The chef who made the dish sent a video message to Tzuyu's mother in Chinese, telling her that she need not worry about her daughter as she is very healthy and lively in South Korea.

5. Girls' Generation's Tiffany

During the program "Kim Jungeun's Chocolate", Girls' Generation member Seohyun's mom surprised the group by appearing as a masked guest. When Seohyun embraced her mother, the girls started tearing up, but Tiffany notably broke down crying. At that moment, Tiffany said that there was something he wanted to say to her mother - it was the first she ever mentioned her mother on a broadcast.

She said, "Even if my mom parted from me first, she left me with eight sisters. So I want to thank both my mom and God." After that, she started hugging every member of Girls' Generation as well as Seohyun's mother.

6. Stray Kids' Hyunjin

During Stray Kids' "District 9 Unlock" concert, fans were surprised when Hyunjin started bursting out crying. He was sending a message out to his fans during their ending comments, and spoke about how he had practiced so hard to accomplish his goals without thinking about himself. He said that many things had happened to them as a group but instead of worrying about himself, he worried about the fans, STAYs. He said, "I was so worried for you guys. I thought you guys might be hurting while worrying for us. [..] I just... I don't want to be away from you guys."

He started crying as he tried to organize his thoughts. He started begging the fans not to leave them, saying, "So please, please don't leave me. Please, stay by my side. I promise I will work hard so I can become someone you can be proud of and happy with. I promise we will not hurt STAYs any more. I love you, STAY. I am so sorry."
