BTS Dishes on Who Their Style Heroes Are
On September 10, GQ partnered up with BTS and revealed their video "BTS Breaks Down Their Style Heroes". Curious to know who they chose? Keep on reading!
The oldest member Jin went first and proudly said, "I am my own hero." He said that the key to his style is to not feel stressed or pressured about what to wear and to just stick with something that feels comfortable. The way he picks his outfits is simple - when he wakes up and sees an outfit he likes, he immediately put it on. "It's good to take it easy," says Jin.
To summarize, Jin confidently said, "Do what you like. Don't worry about what other people might think. What is important is what you want." He reminds the viewers that other people don't care about what you wear as much as you think, so still with the things that make you comfortable and happy.
J-Hope chose the character Snoopy as his style hero. The idol chose Snoopy since the character gives him a fun way to express himself. He loves Snoopy so much, that he has Snoopy clothes and pajamas!
J-Hope also gave style tips to the viewers, telling them to try every style they want. That way, it will be easier to understand what works and what doesn't work, which ultimately helps build personal style. He said that he himself went through numerous trials and errors before creating his own style.
Suga chose Batman from "The Dark Knight" series. He chose Batman since he is one of the few superheroes who are actually human and has weaknesses.
He went on to say that as a child, his mother liked clothes, which meant he was always well-dress. As he transitioned to his teenage years, he often wore flashy clothing. But now that he is an adult, he'd rather wear clothes that are comfortable.
Jimin may have had the most touch answer of all. His style heroes are his fans, the ARMY! He chose the ARMY because they inspire every aspect of his life. He went even further and said that the ARMY is the reason for his life. "It's like a mirror that can reflect me in light or in-depth way," he explains. "I tried hard to become as friendly, sensitive, and warm as they are."
He, like the other members, also gave some style tips. He says that people should confidence, and trust that you are already stylish and amazing as the heroes you are inspired by.
Jungkook chose BTS's leader, RM! He chose RM because he considers him the starting point of the life he currently leads. He also chose RM because he is one of the members closest to him and is someone he can lean on. On top of that, the leader has a 'sexy mindset', as well as being both physically attractive and musically talented! Though rather than incorporating RM's style as his own, Jungkook says he found potential within himself when he sees RM, whether it be because of how he thinks or how he engages with music.
Jungkook says he doesn't have a specific style he sticks to. Instead, he prioritizes taking care of oneself and grooming.
RM chose two artists as his style heroes: Whanki Kim and Yun Hyung Keun. He said that the artists are two very different - one is like the sky while the other is like the earth. RM said he often wonders what advice those two artists would give him when he's quiet but has many thoughts in his head. He says he likes to look at the balance of their relationship and then applies that to his own life.
RM thinks style is about attitude. People should try new things, buy new things, and let it become a part of you. With that, people should wear them comfortably and proudly.
Lastly, member V selected his father as his style hero! He revealed that back in the day, his father had a clothing business, so he was always stylish. When V looks back at old photos, he sees how stylish his father is, which has led him to desire to become as stylish as his dad.
V says that individuality is important with style. He would rather people be themselves and create their own style. Though inspired by his father, V still believes his style is different overall from his father's. The one thing he has in common with his day? His facial features! "That's the greatest incorporation," RM commented.
