On Nov. 10, an exclusive report from South Korean media outlet Dispatch reported that TWICE member Jihyo and Kang Daniel have broken up after a year and three months of publicly dating. According to said reports, the two have parted ways because they have both become too busy to date.

According to a source close to the couple, they started drifting away from each other as they focused more on their respective albums and comebacks. As they became busier with album and comeback preparations, they started seeing each other less and less.

It was added that both idols prioritize their goals and that both Kang Daniel and TWICE's Jihyo agreed that their work is more important to them at the moment.

After confirming the legitimacy of the reports, JYP Entertainment confirmed that the two split up later that day.

Most South Korean netizens and fans were surprised to hear about the break-up. Many commented that the two had dated quietly with no scandals or sightings of the two together after it was revealed they were together. Many people expressed sadness as they seemed like a good couple but said that they continue to support both Kang Daniel and Jihyo.

In August 2019, Dispatch released an exclusive report, announcing that TWICE member Jihyo and Kang Daniel were in a relationship. Reports during that time suggested that the two started dating at the beginning of 2019. 

They were linked to each other by a close friend in 2018 and started developing feelings for each other. A source close to both Kang Daniel and TWICE's Jihyo claims that it is a senior idol who is friends who introduced them together.

Dispatch at the time stated that Jihyo stuck with Kang Daniel during his lawsuit with his previous company and his comeback preparations. In return, Kang Daniel was a shoulder to lean on when she was tired and re-energized her. 

Shortly after reports of them dating was released, both JYP Entertainment and Kang Daniel's agency, Konnect Entertainment, confirmed the two were in a relationship and were meeting with good feelings.
