Aespa is the Only Rookie Group on K-pop Radar's 'Weekly Top 10 Music Video' + Full List

SM Entertainment's new girl group, Aespa, amazingly entered the lineup, dominated by prominent groups BTS, TWICE, and BLACKPINK, as artists with a significant rise in their MV views within the first week of 2021! 

According to K-pop Radar, an analytical service that collects and observe data from artists or fandoms' SNS, BTS has protected its thrown at their chart in the first week of January 2021.

Along with the male group, popular global girl groups like BLACKPINK and TWICE also entered the rankings, along with the K-pop icon, Psy.

Surprisingly, Aespa, a two-month old girl group from SM Entertainment, also managed to secure a spot on the rankings, proving their skyrocketing fame.

K-pop Radar's "Weekly Top 10 Music Video": BTS, Psy, Aespa, TWICE, and BLACKPINK Were Included

In the rankings wherein data were observed from Dec. 27 to Jan. 2, BTS's "Dynamite" music video topped K-pop Radar's chart in the first week of 2021, with 19.14 million views. In the last week 2020, the world-renowned group topped the list as well, keeping their title as No. 1.

On top of this, "Dynamite" topped the K-pop radar weekly chart a total of six times, having the highest record in K-pop Radar's history.

According to the analytical service, the number of views for "Dynamite" MV rose slightly on the first day of the new year compared to the previous day, and the number of weekly views also increased by about 140,000 views compared to last week.

In particular, the track is significant that it is considered the most popular K-pop music videos on YouTube so far, even though it was only released five months ago.

Among them, the number of views for the music video of "Gangnam Style" is also noticeable. Last week, the average daily music video view was 1.26 million views, but it surged 1.8 times to 2.25 million views per day on Jan. 1.

Meanwhile, Aespa's "Black Mamba" also rose from its daily views day after day since Christmas, with its first-week ranking rising nine places compared to their ranking last week.

Aside from the amazing increase in their debut MV views, they proved to be a "rookie monster," being the sole rookie group that entered the rankings.

In addition to them, K-pop Radar included BLACKPINK's "How You Like That" (9.62 million views) at fourth place, BTS's "Life Goes On" (9.27 million views) at fifth place, TWICE's "I CAN'T STOP ME" (827 million views) at sixth place, BTS's "Boy With Luv" (8 million views) at seventh place.

Lastly, BLACKPINK swept the eight to tenth places with their MVs for "KILL THIS LOVE," "Ice Cream," and "Lovesick Girls."

Aespa's Dynamic Debut and Achievements

Aespa released their debut song "Black Mamba" on various music sites at 6 p.m. on Nov. 17. They were highly anticipated because they were a rookie group released by SM Entertainment four years after NCT and a girl group after six years following Red Velvet.

Following their debut, they immediately entered Billboard Global 200 and recorded numerous selections from media as one of the Best Releases of 2020.
