Korean Netizens Slam Chanyeol's Return to Instagram

On Mar. 20, Chanyeol shared three posts promoting his upcoming movie, "The Box." The first post he shared includes the three different movie posters for the film. The other two posts include stills from the film.

 He then shared another three sets of posts from a photoshoot that includes his dog. The photos show Chanyeol in a suit and his dog in a dress.

Many international fans had welcomed his return, but Korean netizens were not as happy, dubbing his return as "shameless."

Previously, Chanyeol was embroiled in controversy after an alleged ex-girlfriend accused Chanyeol of being a serial cheater. As SM Entertainment announced that they had no official stance on the matter, many Korean netizens assumed the rumors to be true.

People believe that his image is now tarnished and that though he was once considered one of EXO's top visuals, he no longer has that same appeal.

Why are Korean Netizens Upset with EXO's Chanyeol?

On Oct. 29, 2020, a user shared a lengthy post to an online community forum, claiming to be Chanyeol's ex-girlfriend. In her post, she accused Chanyeol of being a serial cheater, claiming that the idol slept with multiple women throughout their relationship behind her back.

The internet user also claimed that Chanyeol slept with female idols, YouTubers, flight attendants, mutual friends, and more.

She also accused Chanyeol of back-stabbing a fellow EXO member after they flirted with her.

According to the user, an EXO member flirted with her without knowing Chanyeol was dating her, and she was surprised he did not defend her. However, he cursed at the EXO member behind his back. She claimed that Chanyeol did not defend her because he was not confident enough to do so, most likely because he was cheating on her at the time.

The user said to have recorded their conversation, in which Chanyeol initially denied claims of cheating but then later admitted to his faults.

Following the backlash, SM Entertainment announced that they do not have an official stance on the matter.
