American Singer Gallant Upset over GFRIEND's Abrupt Disbandment

On Friday, May 21, 2021, Gallant quote-tweeted Lil Uzi Vert's tweet about GFRIEND, noting that their disbandment was "too abrupt."

The girl group was reported to have disbanded on May 18 despite Source Music still releasing video contents of the girl group the day prior.

Lil Uzi Vert also took to Instagram Live to show his sadness. The American singer-songwriter looked sad as he drank scotch and stared at the camera. Throughout the live stream, he barely spoke. Fans could hear that he was listening to "Only 1" by GFRIEND. It appears that Gallant was mourning the group's sudden disbandment.

Gallant has been a long-time fan of GFRIEND and even met them back in 2016. The American singer-songwriter previously shared a photo of the girl group and him to his Instagram Story, showing he has been a BUDDY since the beginning,

Gallant has also been caught leaving comments on GRIEND's official Instagram account.

In one instance, he even thanked the girl group for releasing the song "Crème brûlée."

During Gallant's appearance on Eric Nam's podcase, "K-Pop Daebak," Gallant also spoke about GFRIEND being his favorite K-pop girl group. He lauded the girl group for their consistent releases.

Gallant then went to explain that the reason he loved GFRIEND is because of their playful approach to K-pop, which reminded him of when he first discovered non-Western music back when he was a child.

He stated that the playful approach they have will always have a place in his soul.

Lil Uzi Vert Saddened by GFRIEND's Disbandment

Gallant is not the first American artist to express sadness over GFRIEND's disbandment. On May 21, fans noticed that Lil Uzi Vert had changed his profile picture to be a group photo of GFRIEND. The rapper also tweeted out GFRIEND's name accompanied with emoticons that express his sadness and anger over the situation.

Lil Uzi Vert, like Gallant, has been a long-time fan of GFRIEND and has been tweeting about his love for the group since 2015. He has gone on an Instagram Live saying that he does not care if they break up, nor does he care what people think about them and that he will always love GFRIEND.

His most recent tweet, besides the tweet concerning their disbandment, was back in Nov. 2020, where he talked about GFRIEND's song "Mago."
