BLACKPINK Announces 5th Anniversary Project "4+1 PROJECT"

YG Entertainment's top girl group, BLACKPINK, seems to be preparing something special for fans! On the morning of June 15, KST, YG Entertainment released a poster announcing the group's fifth-anniversary project on BLACKPINK's official social media accounts.

On the poster, the title "4+1 PROJECT" is written without any other content or hints as to what the project might be. According to YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK has planned various types of projects to meet the love and expectations of their fans, BLINKs.

BLACKPINK made their debut back on August 8, 2016, with the release of their debut single album "SQUARE ONE," which featured hit songs "Whistle" and "BOOMBAYAH."

Upon their debut, they had already created a worldwide sensation as soon as they entered the music industry, snagging the top spots on domestic music programs in just 14 days, making them the fastest girl group to do so in the history of girl group debuts. Since then, BLACKPINK has released equally popular hit songs such as "As If It's Your Last," "DDU-DU DDU-DU," "Kill This Love," "How You Like That," and "Lovesick Girls," and have grown into a world-class girl group that is representative of K-Pop.

In 2019, BLACKPINK became the first K-Pop girl group to perform on the stage of the popular and largest music festival in the United States, Coachella, and further expanded their influence by collaborating with top Western pop stars such as Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, and Cardi B.

In addition, their first full-length album "THE ALBUM," which was released in October of last year, ranked second in the two major international pop charts, Billboard in the United States and the Official Charts in the United Kingdom, making them the highest-ranking K-pop girl group to do so.

BLACKPINK's "BOOMBAYAH" is the First K-Pop Debut Music Video to Surpass 1.2 Billion Views

On June 8 at approximately 10:29 am KST, BLACKPINK's debut music video "BOOMBAYAH" had attained a new milestone by surpassing 1.2 billion views on Youtube. Released on August 8, 2016, at 8 pm KST, it took four years, nine months, 30 days, and 14 hours for "BOOMBAYAH" to reach the milestone.

In addition, "BOOMBAYAH" is BLACKPINK's third music video to surpass 1.2 billion views after "DDU-DU DDU-DU" and "Kill This Love." Not only that, but "BOOMBAYAH" becomes the first K-Pop debut music video to do so.
