On July 9, a Korean news outlet Herald Pop reported that JYP Entertainment is gearing to launch a new girl group in February 2022, the next leading female act following their actively promoting group TWICE and ITZY.

According to JYP, the girl group heralds to kick off next year, promoting the group through a "Blind Package" content. Upon the news, K-pop enthusiasts can't wait to see how the group will become a game-changer in the K-pop industry with their enigmatic concept.

JYP Entertainment to Debut a New Girl Group Three Years after ITZY 

At midnight on July 8, JYP Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as JYP) opened a new SNS channel "JYPn" wherein they released a cryptic video.

The phrase "Not an ordinary package. It's extraordinary!" in the released video stimulated viewers' curiosity.

This is JYP Entertainment's first signal to announce the launch of a new girl group in 2022, which will continue the girl groups' success in the K-pop scene.

In particular, JYP Entertainment is known for its top-tier female groups, such as Wonder Girls, Miss A, TWICE, and ITZY.

Aside from the anticipation of how the new group will carry the legacy of their seniors, fans are also excited as this will be the first girl group that the agency will launch three years after ITZY in Korea.

The expectations for the girl group also skyrocketed as it was mentioned that JYP Entertainment Division 4 will manage the group, spearheaded by Lee Ji Young, the first-ever female in-house director of the company.

If you are not familiar with Division 4, it is a "dream team" that is comprised of the best staff in JYPE. Some of the most popular and successful artists that they cast and trained include former Wonder Girls' Sunmi, 2AM Jinwoon, 2PM Nichkhun, TWICE members including Jeongyeon, Sana, Jihyo, and Tzuyu.

Division 4 is also the one who produced Day6 Young K, GOT7 Mark, Jackson, and Yugyeom, as well as Stray Kids' Hyunjin and Felix.

What is a "Blind Package"? JYP Entertainment to Release Pre-Debut Limited Edition Package for New Girl Group

JYP Entertainment's announcement to launch a new girl group came with additional posters with the phrases, "YOUR NEXT FAVORITE GIRL GROUP" and "Blind Package." There is also a slogan that says, "Grab your Future!"

"Blind Package" is said to be a limited edition of the debut single of the new girl group. It will be sold for only 10 days from July 16 to 25. The package can only be purchased during the pre-sale period, and cannot be produced or purchased after the pre-sale period.

The "Blind Package" will be sent at the time of the group's debut in February 2022, and will consist of limited edition CDs, photobooks, photo cards, posters, premium membership cards, and random polaroids.

In addition, a separate event will be held after the debut through a lottery among buyers with premium membership cards, providing special benefits to fans. This "Blind Package" can be booked in advance through various domestic and foreign music sites for only 10 days from July 16 to 25.
