VANNER Hyesung Explains Why He is Working Part-Time Despite Being an Idol

On November 4, VANNER's lead vocalist and dancer Hyesung held a Naver V Live broadcast, where he had a casual chat with fans. During the broadcast, Hyesung decided to have a candid talk about his part-time job as a salesperson at the cosmetics brand Lush and the reason he began working part-time despite being an idol.

According to Hyesung, a lot of idols like himself are currently not making any earnings despite promoting, and reveals that he hasn't had any earnings as an idol for about two years now.

"I realized that when a person starts living without earning for himself, your thoughts can end up in an extreme place. So I started thinking. What I really want to do is to be able to pay for my bus fare. Pay for my meals," Hyesung said, adding that he also wants to be able to treat a friend even if it's just food or coffee and has enough money for simple things.

Hyesung continues to explain that those simple things would maintain his welfare. But if he finds that he doesn't have those, it will turn into an ultimatum for him.

"'I need to quit being a singer and an idol. I'm tired of this. I need to live my life.' When I started having such thoughts, I concluded that I need to just lay down my pride, and get a job to meet some of those requirements," Hyesung continued.

When it comes to people recognizing him while he works part-time, he says, "It doesn't matter if people recognize me sometimes. If they ask me why I'm working there, I just answer that I am not making any money as of the moment."

He also goes on to say that when he isn't working part-time, then he won't be able to continue being an idol. Rather, he is working so that he can protect his main role.

Hearing this, fans have poured out their support for the idol and group with words of encouragement, while others have praised Hyesung for being such a diligent person.

VANNER is a five-member boy group that debuted back in February 2019 under VT Entertainment. The group's lineup consists of Hyesung, Taehwan, Gon, Ahxian, and Yeonggwang.

So far, VANNER has released studio album "V" and single albums "5cean: V" and "Life."

More recently, VANNER will be holding an online fan meeting on November 9 at 6 pm KST.
